Social Enterprise at Manifold

We believe every action we take should have a positive impact on our communities and our environment.

At the moment operating a business with these kind of values is called Social Enterprise. We are working towards a future where these values are intrinsic to all businesses and it is simply know as enterprise.

Social Enterprise Monthly Meetup

Get Social Meetups

Held on the first Thursday of each month from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Manifold, the Get Social meetup exists to connect and build capability among Taranaki entrepreneurs working in the Social Enterprise space.

Set in a relaxed environment and collaborative by nature this helpful meetup is a chance to connect with aspiring entrepreneurs, practitioners and other players in the ecosystem, for example funders, investors, educators, local govt, professional service providers etc.

Through our guest speakers and practical workshops our aim is to grow awareness of what social enterprise is and how it can be adopted. We hope to build capabilities in areas such as impact management, general business and provide operational support and accessibility to markets, funding, and government contracts. Join us on the first Thursday for the next ‘Get social‘ Meetup.

Check our Events Page for info on the next Meetup or our Facebook Group page.

Social Enterprise help

Get Social Clinic’s

Our monthly coaching clinics provide a format in which individual ventures (idea-stage & operating) can access focused support from the Get Social Taranaki team. Each coaching clinic has the following aims:

Diagnose the stage each venture or entrepreneur is at across the following areas:

  • Impact Management

  • Operational/Governance

  • Revenue Model

  • Customer

  • Skill Gaps

Link the social enterprise to relevant local professional services, or community partners based on the diagnostics. I.e. other ‘players’ in the ecosystem.

Share tools and resources. Where appropriate we support the venture through useful methodologies such as Social Lean Canvas and Theory of Change.

Two Coaching Clinics per month. Sessions take place on the first Thursday of each month between 12:30pm and 3:30pm.

Manifold, 21 Devon St West, New Plymouth

We use Ākina’s coaching tools amongst other methodologies and frameworks in our Clinics.

Social Enterprise in Schools

We believe the path of a social entrepreneur can start from a young age. Our social enterprise in schools programme is being run in partnership with Devon Intermediate School.  Through a mix of practical experience and classroom based learning students will explore the unique nature of social enterprise, identify social and environmental needs in their own communities, develop and test enterprise ideas, engage with potential markets, create lean business plans and promote and build awareness of the enterprise they have created. At every stage students will be supported by the team at Get Social and its founding partners Manifold and BAF – Bishop’s Action Foundation. Once the programme begins you will be able to follow the story in Manifold News.
